Jacobo Díaz Giraldez

Giraldez studied with professors from the Banda Municipal such as Vicente Micó at the Superior Conservatory of Seville. He earned an advanced degree as Professor of Oboe and graduated with honours (GPA Honors and an honourable Mention at graduation) [Premio Fin de Grado Medio y Mención de Honor Fin de Carrera] with Carlos Baena. Later, Jacobo honed his craft at OJA, JONDE, the Academy of Contemporary Music in Madrid and the Barenmoim-Saïd Center for Orchestral Studies, and currently with professors such as Thomas Indermühle.

Jacobo frequently appears as a soloist with the Bética Chamber Orchestra [Orquesta Bética de Cámara] and the Almeria Orchestra [Orquesta de Almería]. He often collaborates with the Navarra Symphony Orchestra [Orquesta Sinfónica Navarra], the Seville Municipal Band [Banda Municipal de Sevilla], the Granada, Cordóba, and Cadaqués (Cataluña) City Orchestras [Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Córdoba, Cadaqués], The European Sinfonietta (Gibraltar) and the Royal Orchestra of Seville [Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla].

He is an oboist for the “Sección Áurea” Ensemble and “Solistas de Sevilla”, with which he has recorded 4 CDs and has done several tours and performances for the Contemporary Music series at the Beijing Conservatory, Colón Theatre (Buenos Aires), the Silesia Contemporary Music Conferences (Poland), the S. Carlino de Brescia Theatre (Italy), the National Music Auditorium (Madrid), the the Guggenheim Museum Auditorium (Bilbao), the San Sebastián Aquarium, The “Emilio Botín Foundation (Santander), the Lope de Vega and Central Theaters (Seville), the Alhambra Theatre (Granada), and the Cánovas Theatre (Malaga).

He is a frequent professor at the JOBA and the OJA. He has also taught the “Adiago Sierra” in Aracena, acted as department chair at the Superior Conservatory of Córdoba and is a professor at the “Francisco Guerrero” Professional Conservatory (Seville).

He continued his study of historical oboes with Alfredo Bernardini and Alayne Leslie and often works with the Baroque Orchestra of Seville [Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla], Forma Antiqva, Os Musicos do Tejo (Lisbon), Haydn Sinfonietta Wien (Austria) and chamber ensembles such as Les Six Musiciens, among others.

Jacobo has recorded for “Concerts on Channel 2” [Los Conciertos de la 2] and “Classical Radio” [Radio Clásica] on RTVE, Antena 2 in Portugal, and ORF in Austria.
